Regulatory Specialist
Join Areim in Stockholm as a Regulatory Specialist and help shape regulatory processes, reporting and governance in an entrepreneurial, collaborative firm.
Stockholm | Regulatory Specialist – Legal & Regulatory
Areim is looking for a Regulatory Specialist to join its Legal & Regulatory team in Stockholm. This is an opportunity to take on a broad and business-oriented role with responsibility for coordinating and driving regulatory matters in an entrepreneurial and evolving environment.
About Areim
Areim is an independent Nordic fund manager, connecting capital, real estate assets, and expertise. Headquartered in Stockholm, with offices in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, and London, Areim has invested in real estate assets since 2003, across sectors including light industrial, data centre, office, logistics, and residential. The firm employs over 100 people and manages assets totalling EUR 6 billion.
The role
As a Regulatory Specialist at Areim, you will be part of the Legal & Regulatory team and act as an internal point of contact for regulatory matters. You will coordinate, document and drive regulatory processes forward, working closely with the wider business as well as Areim's control functions. The role is included in the 1st line of defense, whereas 2nd and 3rd line of defense functions are outsourced to external advisors.
You will report directly to the Legal and Regulatory Manager and have the opportunity to help shape and develop your role in a team that is currently evolving. The role combines independent responsibility with coordination and collaboration across the organisation, and you will play an important part in ensuring that regulatory matters are identified, followed up and addressed appropriately.
Key responsibilities and tasks include:
Coordinating Areim's ongoing regulatory work and acting as an internal point of contact for regulatory matters.
Coordinating and following up on Areim's control functions within Compliance, Risk and Internal Audit.
Maintaining regulatory documentation and registers, including in relation to outsourcing, conflicts of interest and DORA.
Maintaining and developing internal policies, instructions and procedures.
Coordinating ongoing reporting and communication with the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority.
Monitoring regulatory developments, assessing their initial impact on the business and coordinating further analysis when required.
Preparing regulatory reporting and decision-making material for management and the Board.
Your profile
We are looking for someone who is structured, thorough and comfortable taking ownership and driving matters forward. You have good judgement and understand when a matter can be handled independently and when further specialist input is required.
You are pragmatic, collaborative and communicative, and enjoy working both independently and together with different stakeholders across the organisation. To thrive at Areim, we believe you enjoy working in an entrepreneurial environment where regulatory requirements need to be balanced with a commercial and solution-oriented mindset.
Qualifications and suitable background
We believe you have relevant experience from regulatory, compliance or closely related matters in a regulated environment. You may have gained your experience from fund management, asset management, an investment firm or another regulated financial business, or from a law firm, audit firm or advisory business.
You have a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to financial services. Knowledge of AIFMD/LAIF is particularly relevant, while experience with related regulatory areas such as SFDR, GDPR, AML or DORA is advantageous. Experience of working with or following up on external service providers or control functions is also valuable.
An academic degree in law, business, economics or another relevant field is preferred. A legal background is particularly valuable, but not a requirement.
You are comfortable communicating in both Swedish and English, verbally and in writing.
